This was one of the bridges we had to wait for an opening. This is a swing bridge which does just that, swings around to open and close. |
Myrtle Beach Yacht Club was our overnight stop, located in North Myrtle Beach, SC. Our 57 mile travels to Myrtle Beach was full of photo ops. We saw some turtles, a bridge being built, a cool air-boat gator hunting
and we saw a gator (did not get a photo of him)!! We were traveling on the Waccamaw and Sampit Rivers making it feel like we were back on the rivers moving south. It was a slow moving day and we were anxious to get ourselves docked to relax.

Cool bridge construction, looks to me like this is going to be another bridge we may have to wait for to pass through. |

We could hear this airboat long before we saw it. Really fun to watch! I wonder if they saw any gators?! |
Upon coming into dock our bow thruster decided to not work (this is not the first time this has happened). Ben being the frustrated mechanic, took to solving the problem as soon as we were tied up. In the meantime, I get wind from our buddies that they are going to the pool. "What!? They have a pool here??" I AM WAY EXCITED!! We love to swim and not many marinas have pools so this was a treat...especially since we only paid $1/foot (Avg has been close to $2/ft).
After troubleshooting and checking all connections, Ben solves the problem (poor connection on a diode that led to a blown fuse) and our thruster is back in business!!
To the pool we go for a cool dip and some cold drinks with our buddies, followed by dinner at the yacht club restaurant.
We arrived because it was cheap and got way more than expected. The local boaters were very friendly, we had a great spot for Crocket to walk, the staff were extremely nice and helpful. The pool, drinks and dinner were all bonuses!!
It was a great stop, even though we did not see anything other than the yacht club.
