Love St. Augustine!

From Marineland we only had 18 miles to St. Augustine. We waited for slack tide (which was 1:30) to arrive, as the marina has a strong current (up to 5 knots). This makes it easier to dock. We arrived a bit before slack and my husband did great bringing the boat into our slip. The dock master said he was thankful to see someone who knew how to drive his boat!

Boy were we surprised when we arrived in St. Augustine! The city claims to be the oldest in the United States! We both love to learn the history of the towns we visit and see as much as we can in our small amount of time. This town is on our list of "must re-visit!".

Our beautiful ride to St. Augustine
St. Augustine is known for its Spanish colonial architecture

Lightner Museum, originally was the Alcazar Hotel, now houses antiques on display from 1870 - 1900.
Flagler College, a private liberal arts school, was originally a hotel named Ponce de Leon Hotel. Henry M. Flagler, co-founder of Standard Oil built the hotel in 1888. It was one of the first to have electricity.
Castillo de San Marcos - 17th century fortress with drawbridges

Awesome drawbridge

An old bank converted into a night club, complete with dancing and cheesecake-stuffed strawberry's!

Our Looper pals, Betsey and Dave on Fryedaze. We were preparing ourselves for the ghost tour!
It was scary!
