Shrimp fest and Last stop in Florida

We sure lucked out (BIG TIME) when we found out there were some cancelations for the 58th shrimp festival in Fernandina, Fl. Not only did we get a slip (the marina is booked for the festival within minutes of booking some 6 months prior) but we got a slip on the inside...literally one of 5 other boats! This means that we were in a slip where we had protection from the waves made by other boaters from the intracoastal. Most transient boats (which is what we are, a boat that is just staying for a day or longer) are placed on a long dock on the outside. It is not protected from the waves which can make for some rolling. We got lucky, or maybe we were just meant to be here! So, we bit the bullet for the "double-the-price" per foot for the event. But hey, once-in-a-life-time event for us, PLUS, we get to meet back up with our Looper friends, Kathy and Kenny on No Zip Code. It has been about 5 months since we last spent time with them and we didn't want to let the opportunity pass us by. It was worth it and more!! My only wish is that we could see this cute, fun town when there is no festival. So, we will add Fernandina to our list!

Our view of the shrimp vendors from our slip
Pre-festival, Crocket likes to walk in the morning before it gets too hot. We like to scope out what vendors we are hitting first!

Kenny and Kathy on No Zip Code are wonderful hosts. Seen here on their gorgeous American Tug decorated for shrimp festival.

We were able to tour a shrimp boat too!
Venders selling all sorts of crafts/arts and food...crazy the amount of people here.
He did not want to leave my arm, his owner was coaxing him back, I could feel him digging his claws into me. Great fun!
Crocket is famous! This here is Miss Shrimp!
Gin Blossoms played for free!
Shrimp Festival did not disappoint!!
