ONE day in Georgia!

We left Fernandina, FL late morning as we only had 36 miles to Brunswick, GA. We traveled on the outside (which is on the Atlantic Ocean) so we could run our boat up a bit and just because the weather looks good for a nice day on the water. Being on the ocean we do not have to worry about shoaling, water depths, bridge heights and also other boaters causing wakes. We love traveling on the outside as it reminds us of being on Lake Michigan (but only when the weather and waves are good).
Anyway, within 30 minutes of entering the inlet to the ocean, we noticed a submarine coming into the inlet (along with two large ships and several coast guard boats). When we used this inlet to come into Fernandina a couple days ago, Ben mentioned that subs travel this and how cool it would be to see a submarine. Well that is just what happened! We were approached by a coast guard boat asking us to exit the inlet while the sub passed. We were already leaving and heading north so we just continued on. I also thought it really cool that they were asking every boat in the inlet to either exit the inlet until the sub passed or they had to point their bow (pointy end/front of the boat) away from the sub. This is so no one poses a threat. Very cool to see.

We had a great boat ride and Crocket slept. We arrived in Brunswick, GA with enough time to do laundry (which was free!!! Crazy!) and enjoy some free beer from the marina. Had dinner on the boat and prepared ourselves for our big run (123 miles) to Hilton Head the next day. We will be catching back up with our friends on Knot Sew Easy and Chasing 80.

Our little buddy all snuggled up on our nice pillows.
A gorgeous day on the Atlantic!
