Well, the inevitable happened...

Ben is feeling much better after 4 days on the couch
Ben threw his back out.

My husband has a bad back and when I say bad, I mean four herniated disks bad. He was hard on his body when he was younger jumping his snowmobile, dirt bikes and motorcycles. His disk damage is all in his lower back which usually knocks him down for a good while. I am in constant worry about when and where this is going to happen, as this has happened numerous times in the years we have been together. Fortunately for us, we were in a marina (and not traveling at the time) at Tidewater in Portsmouth, VA, throwing a toy for Crocket when something caused the intense pain associated with the herniated disks and his nerves. It usually doesn't take much to trigger his pain, but thankfully Ben is prepared for this very thing to happen (unfortunately). While it is not enjoyable for anyone (he's irritable and I'm stressed and worried) he did what he needed to do; stay put, ice, meds and rest. So, we stayed an extra three days while Ben worked on getting stronger. We changed our plans moving north, we will be making shorter runs so he isn't sitting (which is uncomfortable for him) for very long.
