We are in Virginia now!!

Tidewater Yacht Marina, Portsmouth, VA

Although we are having fun and loving every bit of our travels and the traveling. Sometimes it feels good to stay put and recharge. With many recommendations from fellow Loopers and boaters, Tidewater is the place to stay. We only traveled about 35 miles but we have been traveling everyday for the last five days. It sometimes feels good to set some roots for a bit and relax.
We planned for five nights here in Portsmouth and being that we are across the Elizabeth River from Norfolk we have plenty of things to do to keep us busy while here.
We enjoyed exploring Portsmouth but even better we met some lovely new friends.
Here is our stay in pictures:

Naval Shipyards...keeping us safe!
Quite impressive to see these huge naval ships
Dinner out, soft shell crabs...yummy!
Liz and Bob
This is the ferry that runs on the half hour taking us to and from Portsmouth to Norfolk across the Elizabeth River
Ferry Ride to Norfolk
Nauticus Naval Museum

We got to tour the USS Wisconsin, which served in WW11, Korean War and most recently Operation Desert Storm.
Ben with one of many mermaid sculptures you will see while visiting Norfolk, VA. 'Mermaids on Parade' was an idea inspired by Chicago's Cows some 10 years ago.

All smiles before the rain

Someone's excited to go to the Commodore Theatre!
The Commodore Theatre was built in 1945. What a fun experience to sit at a table, order food and drink beer while watching a movie!
Enjoying our movie on a rainy day. The mural behind us is restored from its original showing the progress of America.
We finally found a karaoke bar! Go Ben!
Our new lovely friend, Patty! We had too much fun (hence our crazy faces) at karaoke night! Patty also treated us to dinner on her boat before we left...wish we could bring her along!
Memorial Day Parade
Bloody Mary's, a parade and our new friend, Billy. He showed us around town, hung out at the pool with us and even drove us around!
